Annie Li, a lawyer with over 30 years of experience in providing legal services to multinational corporations, served at Applied Materials, Inc. for nearly two decades. During her tenure in the legal department of Applied Materials, she led the China legal team in supporting the company's business growth in the region. Her responsibilities covered areas such as corporate governance, investments, sales contracts, bidding documents, procurement agreements, non-disclosure agreements, factory and workshop construction contracts, and training.
She also headed the Asia-Pacific compliance team, collaborating with the headquarters' compliance department to promote and strengthen a culture of compliance across China and other Asia-Pacific countries and regions . This involved the establishment, development, review, and implementation of company-related policies and regulations, internal compliance investigations, and corporate compliance training.
Additionally, she led the China trade compliance team, working closely with the headquarters' trade compliance team to enhance the execution of trade compliance in China. Her efforts were focused on mitigating the impact of U.S. trade control legislation and enforcement on the company's business in China. This included conducting due diligence on clients in China, supporting U.S. export license applications, researching Chinese trade laws and regulations, and providing trade compliance training.
